What People Don't Get About High School Movies

People don't get high school movies. Entertainment Weekly and Ben recently made a list of their favorite high school movies. What people don't get is that a high school movie actually has to take place primarily in a high school. The protagonist being in high school or being a high school teacher doesn't make it a high school movie. Ferris Bueller's Day Off is not a high school movie, the entire movie is about not being in school. Also in EW's list it mentions Back to the Future as a high school movie, the movie is not slightly about high school. At least a major topic in Ferris Bueller is high school. One of my favorite movies is Election. Election is about the student body president election, it is a high school movie. Ugh, people just don't get it.
